As previously reported, former WWE, WCW and TNA writer Vince Russo was backstage at the Lucha Underground television taping this past weekend.
There have been some rumors floating around regarding Russo possibly working for Lucha Underground, however that does not appear to be the case. The company did hold a meeting with top officials to discuss Russo, and it was stated at that meeting that Russo would not be hired.
Some veterans of the promotion apparently did not believe that Russo wasn’t being brought in, however top company officials reportedly insisted that he was not getting a job.
While Russo himself said he was only at the taping for one appearance and to produce some podcast content, those who were backstage at the show said it seemed like Russo was looking to get back into the business.
Russo was reportedly treated very well while there, but there was said to be a general feeling that he didn’t know anything about Lucha Libre style wrestling. He apparently made a suggestion that the show needs more female wrestlers, a suggestion that was said to not be taken very well.
