WWE: Why WWE Refused to Release Neville, Kevin Owens/Paul Heyman Rumor Killer

Neville Release Update

One of the main reasons that WWE didn’t grant Neville his release when he requested it in October 2017 was because they didn’t want to set a precedent where guys under contract can walk out and go to New Japan, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

NJPW was where Neville was expected to be heading, so WWE refused to grant him his release and froze his contract for ten months before finally letting him go just recently. He is now no longer under contract and has no non-compete clause, so he is free to work anywhere. This has of course lead to speculation that he could even show up at All In this Saturday

Neville worked in New Japan in 2012, but was signed by WWE shortly after.

Kevin Owens and Paul Heyman Rumor Killer

There has been a rumor that Kevin Owens could return to WWE being managed by Paul Heyman after his “quitting” angle, but Dave Meltzer says in the Wrestling Observer that that “has no validity to it.”

There has been talk within WWE of keeping Heyman on for an on-screen role while Lesnar is away, however.
