More on AEW vs. NXT Week 37 Viewership

The June 10th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw both shows decline again in viewership but increased in rankings. AEW also managed to top NXT in terms of overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW Dynamite drew 677,000 viewers on TNT and a #14 ranking in 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 673,000 viewers on USA Network and a #35 ranking in 18-49 demographic.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for the decline in viewership this week was due to stiff competition from both news shows and NASCAR’s Martinsville 2020 race event. Meltzer reported that NASCAR’s race affected AEW and NXT the most in terms of the declines suffered in their younger viewership groups. AEW reportedly had 296,000 viewers while NXT had 213,000 viewers in terms of key demographic viewership. A weaker level of interest than usual for this past Sunday’s NXT TakeOver: In Your House event reportedly also contributed to NXT’s lack of a post-PPV bump for the night.

AEW reportedly won four out of the eight quarter-hours in terms of overall viewership and all of the quarters in terms of key demographic viewership. The split in overall viewership reportedly was AEW had won the first four quarters while NXT had won the last four quarters.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 760,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the remainder of the TNT Championship match of Marq Quen vs. Cody which gained 20,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Best Friends & Orange Cassidy vs. Inner Circle match which lost 52,000 viewers.

WWE NXT started off with around 758,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Finn Balor vs. Cameron Grimes match which gained 37,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the Keith Lee & Mia Yim vs. Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae match and a Damian Priest interview segment which lost 74,000 viewers

Canadian Viewership for AEW’s June 10th Show and NXT’s June 5th Show

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW drew a combined viewership of 91,800 viewers for their June 10th episode of Dynamite on TSN 1 and TSN 2 in Canada.

Meltzer reported that the June 5th episode of NXT did not rank in the Top 10 sports programming for that night in Canada, meaning it drew less than 30,000 viewers.
