More on WWE NXT Viewership for June 14th

The June 14th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer a large decline in overall viewership and slight declines in key demographic ratings and key demographic viewership.

NXT drew 612,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 25th place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s declines this week was due to the large declines from their Teenagers and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were down 70% and 25% respectively compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that despite the viewership decline, NXT managed to rank higher than usual due to both the lack of stiff sports competition and non-sports competition being weaker than usual that night.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the CONCACAF 2022 Nations League game of Jamaica vs. Mexico drew 313,000 viewers on Univision Deportes, the MLB game of Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees drew 381,000 viewers on TBS, Little People, Big World drew 1,416,000 viewers on TLC, Deadliest Catch drew 1,048,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Deadliest Catch: Bloodline drew 778,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 156,000 viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 11.9% in overall viewership and down 36.8% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 15th

The June 15th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership, a large decline in key demographic rankings, and a slight decline in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 761,000 viewers and a 0.28 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines this week was due to large declines from their younger key demographic viewership and over 50 viewership groups, which were down 23.6% and 21.6% respectively compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that another reason was a combination of this week’s lead-in programming viewership on TBS being down 13% compared to last week, a power outage affecting the Midwest region that night, and that night’s overall cable television viewership being the least viewed Wednesday night since July 4, 2018. In regards to AEW’s declines, this week’s show had the lowest overall regular time slot viewership since their April 7, 2021 show and the lowest key demographic viewership since their May 19, 2021 show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NHL 2022 Stanley Cup Finals Game 1 of Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Colorado Avalanche drew 4,200,000 viewers on ABC, the MLB game of Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Mets drew 229,000 viewers on FS1, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,157,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 644,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 365,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 14.3%, Females 18-34 was down 34.9%, Males 35-49 was down 13.5%, and Females 35-49 was down 18.5% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s quarter peak was at 857,000 viewers for their fourth quarter and their quarter low point was at 659,000 viewers for their eight quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 38.1% in overall viewership and up 40% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that the main reason for the huge increases was due to last year’s show took place on a Friday due to the NBA 2021 Playoffs.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 839,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Dax Harwood vs. Will Ospreay post-match brawl with FTR, Roppongi Vice, Orange Cassidy, & United Empire segment, the Jon Moxley, Hiroshi Tanahashi, & Chris Jericho promo and brawl with JAS, Archer, El Desperado, Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz, & Wheeler Yuta segment which gained 132,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Darby Allin & reDRagon promo video segment, the Toni Storm interview segment, and the start of the Ethan Page vs. Miro match which lost 76,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for June 10th

The June 10th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a slight increase in overall viewership and key demographic ratings and a large increase in key demographic rankings.

AEW Rampage drew 476,000 viewers and a 0.16 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 6th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large increases from their Teenagers and younger demographic viewership groups, which were up 20% and 14.2% respectively compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA 2022 Finals Game 4 of Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics drew 12,063,000 viewers on ABC, the NCAA Baseball game of Louisville vs. Texas A&M drew 499,000 on ESPN, the CONCACAF 2022 Nations League game of United States vs. Granada drew 127,000 viewers on Univision Deportes, and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 755,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 209,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 149,000 male key demographic viewers and 60,000 female key demographic viewers. Meltzer also reported that week’s Rampage show was the second youngest skewing sports show for the week, only behind that week’s Dynamite show.
