More on WWE NXT Viewership for June 21st

The June 21st episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a small increase in overall viewership and large increases in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.

NXT drew 637,000 viewers and a 0.18 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 7th place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s increases this week was due to the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership, which was up 66.7% compared to last week’s show. Another reason for their increases this week reportedly was due to the very large gains from their Teenagers viewership group, which was up 133.3% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly was enough to offset the large declines in their Over 50 viewership group, which was down 11.7% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NCAA 2022 College World Series game of Arkansas vs. Auburn drew 1,107,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB game of San Francisco Giants vs. Atlanta Braves drew 381,000 viewers on TBS, Little People, Big World drew 1,299,000 viewers on TLC, Deadliest Catch drew 998,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Deadliest Catch: Bloodline drew 782,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 235,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 162,000 male viewers and 79,000 female viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 4.2% in overall viewership but up 5.8% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for June 22nd

The June 22nd episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership, a small increase in key demographic ratings, and a slight increase in key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 878,000 viewers and a 0.31 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 1st place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due to the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 34.6% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large gains from their younger female key demographic viewership group which was up 70.7% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NHL 2022 Stanley Cup Game 4 of Colorado Avalanche vs. Tampa Bay Lightning drew 4,599,000 viewers on ABC, the NCAA 2022 College World Series game of Arkansas vs. Ole Miss drew 1,349,000 viewers on ESPN, the MLB simulcast games of Detroit vs. Boston and New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay drew 197,000 viewers on MLB Network, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,184,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 658,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 411,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 1.5%, Females 18-34 was up 70.7%, Males 35-49 was down 3.1%, and Females 35-49 was up 4.5% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, one of AEW’s eight quarters averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s quarter peak was at 1,003,000 viewers for their first quarter and their quarter low point was at 782,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 35.3% in overall viewership and up 47.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that the main reason for the huge increases was due to last year’s show took place on a Saturday due to the NBA 2021 Playoffs.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 1,003,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Jon Moxley & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Chris Jericho & Lance Archer match and the post-match mass brawl with JAS, Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz, Wheeler Yuta, Minoru Suzuki, & Shota Umino which gained 63,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the ending of the Six-Man Tag Team match of United Empire vs. Orange Cassidy & Roppongi Vice, the post-match brawl and staredown with United Empire & FTR, and the Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, & Sutnam Singh backstage promo segment which lost 84,000 viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for June 17th

The June 17th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a large decrease in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a small decline in key demographic ratings.

AEW Rampage drew 369,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 22nd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the large decline by their younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 64.3% compared to the prior week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large declines suffered in their Teenagers, older key demographic viewership, and Over 50 viewership groups, which were down 66.7%, 29.2%, and 19% respectively compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NCAA 2022 College World Series game of Notre Dame vs. Texas drew 1,133,000 viewers on ESPN, Pro Fight League drew 303,000 viewers on ESPN, and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 712,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 155,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show did not chart in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite show was the third youngest, only behind the USA vs. El Salvador soccer game and UFC Prelims.

AEW Rampage started off with around 408,000 viewers and had around 362,000 viewers for its second quarter, around 345,000 viewers for its third quarter, and around 360,000 viewers for its main event quarter featuring the Bobby Fish vs. Darby Allin match.
