More on WWE NXT Viewership for November 29th

The November 29th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a large increase in key demographic rankings, a small increase in overall viewership, and a slight increase in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 644,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 35th place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s increases this week was due to the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership and male key demographic viewership groups, which were up 12.5% and 54.8% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the large decline in their female key demographic viewership group, which was down 31.3% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks drew 1,506,000 viewers on TNT, the College basketball game of West Virginia vs. Michigan drew 959,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Syracuse vs. Illinois drew 821,000 viewers on ESPN, Little People, Big World drew 1,392,000 viewers on TLC, Below Deck Adventure drew 518,000 viewers on Bravo, and Curse of Oak Island drew 2,503,000 viewers on History Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 176,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 130,000 male viewers and 46,000 female viewers for a split of 73.9% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 1.1% in overall viewership but down 7.9% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that NXT’s 18-34 viewership was down 18.2% compared to the same week last year.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for November 30th

The November 30th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a small decline in overall viewership and key demographic ratings but gain a slight increase in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 870,000 viewers and a 0.26 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 5th place.

Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s declines this week was due to the large declines in their younger male key demographic viewership and older male key demographic viewership groups, which were down 20% and 29.9% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the gains from their female key demographic viewership group, which was up 7.2% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s key demographic viewership rating was the lowest ever for an unopposed show in its regular timeslot in Dynamite history. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s key demographic viewership of 344,000 viewers for a regular timeslot show was the lowest since its March 31, 2021 show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics drew 337,000 viewers on NBA TV, the NHL game of Buffalo Sabres vs. Detroit Red Wings drew 314,000 viewers on TNT, the NHL game of Edmonton Oilers vs. Chicago Blackhawks drew 239,000 viewers on TNT, the College basketball game of Purdue vs. Florida State drew 442,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of Ohio State vs. Duke drew 1,268,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of North Carolina vs. Indiana drew 1,630,000 viewers on ESPN, Challenge: Ride or Die drew 522,000 viewers on MTV, and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City drew 518,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 344,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 20%, Females 18-34 was up 8.3%, Males 35-49 was up 29.2%, and Females 35-49 was up 6.6%. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 240,000 male viewers and 104,000 female viewers for a split of 69.8% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, one of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 1,030,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 792,000 viewers for their eighth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 1% in overall viewership but down 15.3% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 13.5% compared to the same week last year.

  • 1Q – 1,030,000 overall viewers and 389,000 key demo viewers (Jon Moxley promo segment and brawl with Hangman Adam Page and the start of the Dax Harwood vs. Bryan Danielson match)
  • 2Q – 877,000 overall viewers and 346,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the Harwood vs. Danielson match and the Ricky Starks backstage segment)
  • 3Q – 869,000 overall viewers and 355,000 key demo viewers (JAS & Blackpool Combat Club backstage segment and the TNT Championship match of AR Fox vs. Samoa Joe (c) and post-match with Wardlow)
  • 4Q – 889,000 overall viewers and 364,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the MJF & William Regal promo segment)
  • 5Q – 869,000 overall viewers and 346,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the MJF & Regal promo segment and attack angle with Danielson, the Ricky Starks vs. Ari Daivari match and post-match with Ethan Page, and the Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter backstage segment)
  • 6Q – 838,000 overall viewers and 324,000 key demo viewers (Anna Jay vs. Willow Nightingale match and post-match brawl with Tay Melo & Ruby Soho, and the Orange Cassidy & QT Marshall backstage segment)
  • 7Q – 801,000 overall viewers and 323,000 key demo viewers (Jade Cargill & The Baddies segment with Bow Wow and the start of the AEW World Trios Championship Best of Seven series Match 3 of The Elite vs Death Triangle)
  • 8Q – 792,000 overall viewers and 313,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the The Elite vs. Death Triangle match)

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for November 25th

The November 25th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a small decline in key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for airing at an earlier starting time of 4PM EST due to TNT’s NHL commitments.

AEW Rampage drew 411,000 viewers and a 0.11 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 43rd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to the lower than usual key demographic viewership caused by the much earlier start time for the show. Meltzer reported that the NHL game that aired during Rampage’s normal time slot drew well below Rampage’s current average for shows at 332,000 viewers and a 0.10 key demographic rating for the game between the St. Louis Blues and Tampa Bay Lightning.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the College football game of Nebraska vs. Iowa drew 1,470,000 viewers on Big Ten Network, the College football game of Arizona State vs. Arizona drew 567,000 viewers on FS1, and the College basketball game of Duke vs. Xavier drew 1,000,000 viewers on ESPN.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 148,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 88,000 male viewers and 60,000 female viewers for a split of 59.5% in favor of males, which was one of the lowest ever male skew for an AEW show in AEW history. Meltzer reported that week’s Rampage show did not rank in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week nor did that week’s Dynamite show but Dynamite skewed younger than every non-World Cup sports game and event.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 4.6% in overall viewership and down 38.9% in key demographic viewership.

  • 1Q – 499,000 overall viewers and 175,000 key demo viewers (ROH World Championship match of Top Flight vs. FTR (c) and the Powerhouse Hobbs video segment)
  • 2Q – 416,000 overall viewers and 151,000 key demo viewers (Chris Jericho, JAS, & Claudio Castagnoli promo segment and the Toni Storm backstage interview segment)
  • 3Q – 358,000 overall viewers and 127,000 key demo viewers (Darby Allin vs. Anthony Henry match, the Athena backstage segment, and the Hikaru Shida vs. Queen Aminata match and post-match with The Bunny & Penelope Ford)
  • 4Q – 371,000 overall viewers and 140,000 key demo viewers (Trios match of The Dark Order vs. RUSH, The Butcher, & The Blade and post-match with Negative One)
