More on AEW’s New TV Deal with Warner Bros Discovery, New Collision Show, Rampage Update

As noted before, AEW is currently expected to officially announce next week that they have signed a new television deal with Warner Bros Discovery. This new deal is also currently expected to involve the official debut of AEW’s new television series called Collision and also involve the upcoming return of CM Punk.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that AEW officials currently have tentative plans in place for a marquee match to be featured on the debut show of their new AEW Collision series. CM Punk reportedly had pushed for a huge match between himself and another person for his return to the company. It was reported that while AEW officials have had talks about a program between Punk and Chris Jericho for the show, Punk had pushed for a different opponent that would also be making their return to the company for his return match.

In regards to the future of AEW Rampage, it was reported that those spoken to stated that AEW officials currently have plans for it to resemble what WWE’s former Heat television series once was in terms of direction. It was also reported that many indie talents will now be more likely to get bookings and opportunities on Ring of Honor shows following the end of AEW Dark Elevation and Dark series.

In regards to AEW’s new television deal with WBD, it was reported that it is currently not known if an entirely new deal has been reached between AEW and WBD for AEW’s programming.

Those spoken to reportedly stated that AEW’s deal for Collision in a primetime time slot on a WBD-owned network is part of a new infusion of cash for AEW and an extension of their current partnership. WBD sources reportedly have long spoken glowingly about their working relationship with AEW. It was also reported that their sources confirmed that this new television deal is currently planned to be officially announced around the time of WBD’s Upfronts next week.

In regards to the rumors of AEW’s new television deal being worth one billion dollars over a few years in length, WBD sources spoken to reportedly stated that Collision was always planned to be the upcoming announcement and not a new all-encompassing TV deal that would include Dynamite. Those spoken to with AEW and WBD reportedly have yet to confirm a monetary amount for this new television deal.

In regards to the recent rumors of WWE and WBD officials being in talks for a potential television deal, it was reported that this was something that was quickly shot down as being true based on those spoken to within both WWE and WBD.

In regards to AEW’s taping plans for Collision, it was reported that AEW officials already have several Saturday dates set to film episodes for their upcoming new television series. AEW officials reportedly also have contingency plans to hold tapings on Thursdays whenever needed at the same venue as that week’s Dynamite show.

In regards to plans for a roster split, those spoken to reportedly stated that AEW officials do have plans for talent from their Dynamite and Collision brands to appear on opposite brand shows whenever needed. Several AEW talent who have been sidelined reportedly currently believe that they will be working for AEW’s new Collision brand but this has been something that has not been outright told to them by AEW officials.
