Update on Young Bucks AEW Status & AEW’s Plans for Young Bucks Following Full Gear 2023

This past Saturday’s AEW Full Gear 2023 event in Los Angeles featured The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega) defeating The Young Bucks. As per stipulation of their match, the Golden Jets were not required to disband and received the Young Bucks title shot for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

Following the event, The Elite’s Brandon Cutler announced on Twitter that the Young Bucks had informed him that they were taking a break from wrestling for the time being.

In a follow-up announcement, Cutler recently announced on Twitter that he was also informed by those close to the Young Bucks that they have officially finished up with the Being The Elite series.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that the Young Bucks break from wrestling is just for storyline purposes and as part of AEW’s current plans for their heel turn. It was reported that AEW officials current plans are for Cutler to speak on behalf of the Young Bucks on both AEW television and social media going forward for the storyline. It was also reported that one other person will eventually be joining in the mix as well.

It was reported that changes in the format for the Being The Elite series is part of AEW’s current plans for the Young Bucks’ heel turn.

In regards to the Young Bucks current status within AEW, it was reported that recent rumors about backstage issues between AEW and the Young Bucks were debunked and instead things are fine between the two sides.

It was also reported that the reason why the Young Bucks were not listed as AEW Executive Vice Presidents on their profile pages in recent weeks was due to a simple error that has since been fixed.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed that all of the recent online stuff involving the Young Bucks is just for storyline purposes for their new heel roles in the company.
