Multiple Companies Reportedly Interested in QT Marshall

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that multiple promotions are currently interested in signing Marshall to a potential contract.

Among those interested reportedly is Major League Wrestling. It was reported that those spoken to within MLW stated that they were surprised Marshall was becoming a free agent and they are interested in his services. Those spoken to also stated that the company currently has plans to contact Marshall to gauge his interest about working for them both as an active in-ring wrestler and backstage management role. It was reported that MLW officials have been making recent changes to their front office including roles that Marshall previously held in AEW. MLW officials currently view Marshall as a “jack of all trades” type person.

Multiple people within WWE reportedly have also recently been pushing for the company to hire Marshall for several different roles in the company.

Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

Saturday’s The Best 2023 event for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Yokohama, Japan featured Kota Ibushi making a surprise appearance. Following Good Looking Guys (Jake Lee, L.J. Cleary, Anthony Greene, YO-HEY, & Tadasuke) victory over Naomichi Marufuji, Takashi Sugiura, Go Shiozaki, Shuji Kondo, & Junta Miyawaki in a 10-Man tag team match at the show, Ibushi made his surprise appearance and approached Marufuji in the ring. Ibushi issued a challenge to Marufuji for a match at NOAH’s The New Year 2024 event on January 2, 2024 in Tokyo, which was accepted by Marufuji. Following the show, NOAH confirmed that this match was made official for their upcoming event.

Pro Wrestling Revolver recently announced that they have pulled Alex Shelley from tonight’s Season Finale 2023 event in Clive, Iowa due to injury-related reasons involving Shelley’s calf injury he suffered this past October.

Friday’s The Darkest Hour event for House of Glory in New York City, New York featured Mike Santana defeating Matt Cardona to become the new HOG World Champion. This event also featured Carlos Ramirez defeating Charles Mason to become the new HOG Crown Jewel Champion.

As noted before, Suzu Suzuki was pulled from Stardom’s events this past weekend in Japan due to an illness. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Suzuki had recovered from her illness and returned to the company for their November 28th event in Tokyo.

EFFY recently announced on Twitter that former WWE talents Mace and Mansoor will be making their official debuts for Game Changer Wrestling at their EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch 8 event on January 27, 2024 in Tampa, Florida. EFFY also announced that Mace and Mansoor will be competing together as a team called MxM at the event.

As noted before, This past Wednesday’s World Tag League 2023 event for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Shizuoka, Japan featured The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun) joining EVIL’s House of Torture stable. Gates of Agony’s membership in HoT lasted for less than one day and revealed that it was just a ruse to lull HoT’s EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi into a false sense of security for their tournament match against each other at Friday’s World Tag League 2023 event in Wakayama. This was all for naught in the end due to EVIL & Takashi managing to secure the victory with some outside help by other members of HoT.

As noted before, NJPW recently hired Walker Stewart to be their new lead English commentator following Kevin Kelly’s departure from the company. In a recent interview with Fightful, Stewart gave his thoughts about adjusting his commentary work for longer matches and learning to pace himself on commentary. Stewart stated “Yeah, first and foremost, for anyone that may not know this — That style of match, that 40 minute plus, just balls to the walls in the last fifteen minutes, it’s a long build over a period of time. I’m used to hitting my times, so in a match on a independent show for instance — Hey, you guys have 8-10 minutes. That means have 8-10 minutes to recap two years of history between these people and why we’re here. I’ve gotten into a habit with speeding up that explanation process. One of the things that Chris, and even Kevin, has been super influential helping me realize that these main event matches are gonna go 25, 35, 45 minutes long at some points and it’s okay to pace yourself. I don’t want to say draw out the explanation of the story, you don’t want to bother people like that, but there’s an art to it. Finding a way to tell a story over 40 minutes of in-ring action, you’re inside that ring, the story could change at a dime. There could be an injury, a body part somebody starts to work on, etc. That was something that developed within that match as well, Chris expertly pointing out Red Shoes being the referee and being the father of Shota Umino. Alright, here’s another dynamic we play into for the next 40 minutes. There is an art to calling professional wrestling that is easy to say, it’s generic or whatever. There’s a particular skill set to call those long main events and it’s something that I realized — I’m not saying that I don’t have that, but I realized that there’s growth here. That was an immediate [indication] of what I need to work on.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with Fightful, indie wrestler Shazza McKenize gave her thoughts about her 15-year wrestling career and her current plans to retire from wrestling after this weekend. McKenzie stated “Exhausting. I’m tired. I’m going to bed. I’m ready for a nap. I’m old and tired. It’s been amazing. I feel very blessed. Wrestling’s such a wild thing where you are always constantly trying to go to the next thing, the next thing, the next thing, so when you sit back and look at what you’ve done, you’re like, ‘Oh, okay. It’s fine.’ When I walked into training did I think I’d ever wrestle on WWE TV? No. Absolutely not. So the fact I’ve done half the things I’ve done, is like mind blowing. I was just excited at the idea that I could have a match. Now we’re 15 years into doing that and that’s crazy.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez, Josh Alexander revealed that he had suffered slight tear in his shoulder during his match against Alex Shelley for the Impact World Championship at Impact Wrestling’s Bound For Glory 2023 event this past October. Alexander stated “Yeah, absolutely. A little inside baseball, at Bound For Glory, in that main event with Alex Shelley, I tore up my shoulder a little bit. Nothing that required surgery or time off, but stuff that was ailing me the entire time. The next night is when we taped that match with Will Ospreay, and nothing was gonna [inaudible]…100%, moving without my left arm through most of that match. Just to be able to step foot in the ring with somebody like Will, who I’ve watched. Everybody’s seen, everybody knows how good he is. But to get in there and go one-on-one and realize the type of chemistry that we had together instantly, first time stepping foot in the ring, and to be able to deliver a match like that for the IMPACT crowd, that’s the kind of stuff that builds momentum. That’s the stuff that I want to be a part of.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

TPWW Forums Status Update

Those who regularly visit the TPWW Forums may have noticed and wondered why the forums have been dealing with serious connection related-issues for the past several weeks.

Unfortunately I can not give an answer to those issues nor when or if they will be resolved.

Fellow TPWW member Screech recently made a temporary TPWW forum that could end up becoming the official replacement for the forums in the future.

For those who have an account on the regular forums and want to join the new temporary forums or those who are interested in becoming new TPWW members, this is the link:

Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience that has been caused over the TPWW forums being mostly down in recent weeks.
