As noted before, Alexa Bliss has been out of action for WWE since January of 2023 due to skin cancer treatment-related issues and maternity reasons over the birth of her first child. WWE recently dropped all of their creative plans for Bliss’ potential return for the indefinite future.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that the reason why WWE dropped their creative plans is due to a contractual-related issue over Bliss and WWE officials currently being in talks for a potential new deal. Meltzer reported that both sides have yet to agree to terms for a new deal.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed that WWE’s dropped plans was due to a contractual issue and provided additional details.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that Bliss is currently seeking a new and improved contract for her return while WWE officials want her to come back under terms of her existing deal. Johnson reported that WWE officials had added time to Bliss’ current contract to cover the time she has missed from her current absence.
Johnson reported that Bliss’ representatives has contacted WWE regarding a potential new contract ahead of her planned return for the January 13th WWE RAW show. WWE officials reportedly had responded back stating that they wanted Bliss to return under the terms of her existing contract leading to the two sides being in a stalemate. Bliss’ side reportedly “dug in their heels” and WWE “playing hard ball” back over this dispute.
This reportedly led to WWE officials freezing all of their plans for Bliss’ return including her being involved in a storyline angle with the Wyatt Sicks and work as a member of the RAW brand. Johnson reported that the Wyatts Sicks being moved over to WWE’s SmackDown brand was due to this change in direction for plans for the group and Bliss’ return.
In regards to her future in the company, Bliss recently deleted all references to WWE from her social media bios during her on-going contractual dispute with the company.
