Corey Graves Comments on Him Calling Worlds Collide Reminded Him “A Rough Patch Isn’t the End of the Road”
This past Saturday’s WWE x AAA Worlds Collide 2025 event featured WWE NXT commentator Corey Graves and AAA head booker Konnan as the official commentary team for the event.
Graves reflected earlier today on Twitter about him getting to work at WWE’s Worlds Collide event and how it reminded him that a “rough patch isn’t the end of the road” in regards to his commentary career in WWE.
Sometimes, you run low on passion. But then, something like this weekend happens.

WWE News & Notes
A&E released the official debut trailer for the upcoming second season of WWE LFG that premieres on June 22nd on their network.
Monday’s WWE RAW show in Phoenix, Arizona featured current Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena revealing that he has 19 appearances remaining for his current retirement tour in WWE.
Dominik Mysterio revealed on Twitter that he had visited Eddie Guerrero’s grave and placed his WWE International Championship next to it as a sign of respect prior to the start of Monday’s WWE RAW show in Phoenix, Arizona.
Monday’s 2025 BET Awards event in Los Angeles, California featured Naomi and Jimmy Uso among those in attendance. Naomi brought her Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase as part of her attending the show.
As noted before, WWE had considered plans for former WCW and TNA announcer Mike Tenay to potentially work at this past Saturday’s WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event, which did not happen in the end. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that WWE officials and Tenay had been in talks for a potential appearance but the two sides were not able to come to terms for a financial agreement.
As noted before, R-Truth had departed from WWE earlier this month due to his contract not being renewed and made his surprise return at this past Saturday’s WWE Money in the Bank 2025 event. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that R-Truth had asked for the name change to Ron Killings as part of the terms for his new deal with WWE for his return. Meltzer reported that the advantage for R-Truth is that when his new deal ends, he will have had WWE television time under his Ron Killings name and increasing his name value and can go straight to using that same ring name on the indies and for personal appearances due to it being his real name.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed and stressed again that R-Truth’s departure from WWE was not a “work” and instead was legitimate. It was reported that WWE President Nick Khan normally does not get involved in talent negotiations and only did so for Truth due to his situation being very different than normal for talents let go. One high level WWE official spoken to reportedly described Truth’s return as a “win for the locker room and fanbase” and the overwhelming internal support as a key factor in reversing the decision to let him go. It was reported that several talents spoken to had stated that both Truth and WWE officials had informed them that Truth’s departure was not a “work.” Those spoken to close to Truth, including his family members, reportedly stated that a new deal for Truth was put together late in the week.
In a recent interview with News4Jax’s Going Ringside podcast, former WWE and current MLW talent Matt Riddle gave his thoughts about his issues with CM Punk and claiming others in WWE had told him that Punk is still a “headache” to work with. Riddle stated “They’re still rebuilding. You know, I’m not a big fan of that guy either. That guy sucks at fighting and he’s a bitch to work with in the back. (why?) Because he just belly aches and complains. This guy complains about getting multiple world title runs. I’ve heard from my boys that still work there (WWE) that he is a headache, and this isn’t a storyline, this is the facts. So, this is what it is.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Elayna Black, former Cora Jade in WWE, gave her thoughts about how she had almost felt a sense of release following her release from WWE this past May. Black stated “Amazing. I feel like, obviously, it comes in waves. No one wants to lose their dream job. But I’ve never felt such a sense of relief, almost. Just that the world is at my exposure to do whatever I want, whether it’s I am going to continue wrestling. But whatever other opportunities come after this, I’m really excited and I feel… For the first time in a while, very happy with the present and just how life is right now.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a recent video posted on Instagram, Nixon Newell, former Tegan Nox in WWE, gave her thoughts about fans giving her the “injury prone” label during her time in WWE and how speaking up in the company to try to improve your position just ends with you being called unprofessional and difficult to work with. Newell stated “Oh, hey, there. It’s me, your favorite ‘injury-prone wrestler,’ or at least that’s what you guys say, right? I mean, I see the comments that you say online, so if we’re gonna say stuff, let’s start to get creative with it, because at this point, the jokes run dry. It’s old, but news flash: some of your favorites have been hurt way more than I have. I wrestled an entire match with a broken leg and a busted knee, and others can’t even wrestle with a broken nail. So sad. Look, wrestling has been my life for 14 years, eight of them in the big leagues, where I was busting my ass day after day, jumped through hoop after hoop just for another one to be put in front of me, I was playing a game that I couldn’t win. Look, you’re empowered to speak up, but when you do, you’re considered unprofessional and difficult. So, tell me, how is that fair? I sat for hours and hours in catering, stood outside doors day after day, just to be told, ‘It’s not the right time.’ But I’m done waiting. I’m telling you that now is the right time. So consider this me knocking. Give me an opportunity.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
