As previously reported, former WWE booking team member Kevin Eck said the original idea for last year’s SummerSlam was to have John Cena, Big Show & Justin Bieber to face the Wyatt family. Eck went on to say that the match was discussed and the creative team was told that it was going to happen. The idea was abandoned when Bieber decided against appearing.
Eck also said that he was against the idea of having Bieber appear alongside Cena because he felt the WWE audience would hate Bieber and this would cause them to turn on Cena even more during a time when they were trying to get fans to like him. The working idea was then to use the heat for Bieber to get Cena over by having him deliver an Attitude Adjustment to the singer after the match.
