In an interview with The Tampa Tribune, Chris Jericho talked about his projects outside of wrestling and the WWE. Here are highlights:
On being more than a wrestler: “When I was a kid, I wanted to be a wrestler and a rock star,” said Jericho, 44, who has lived in the Tampa Bay area more than 20 years. “I didn’t see a reason I had to choose just one. I still don’t. And here I am succeeding in both, and then some. I want to prove I can do it all in entertainment.”
On his acting career: “It is very rare you get an opportunity like The Rock. You take the opportunities afforded to you. Everything that happens is another step up the ladder. I just need to prove myself.”
On how he got his Comedy Central web series: “Word got out about what I was doing, and Comedy Central called me and said they had a series for me. So I quit my job at the car wash to go off and become a Hollywood star. I think I have a great comedic sensibility. I’m getting opportunities to showcase it. That’s all I need.”
