Bill Goldberg To Break Record This Sunday At Fastlane?

The record for the longest time in-between holding a top title in WWE is currently 12 years and 19 days. “Lloyd-Boner” on Reddit pointed out that if Goldberg defeats Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Title at Fastlane this Sunday, the time lapsed between his WWE title reigns will be 13 years, 2 months and 14 days.

The current record holder is Kane. Kane lost the WWF Championship on June 29th, 1998 the day after winning the belt at the King of the Ring PPV. Kane recaptured the World Heavyweight Championship on July 18, 2010th at the Money in the Bank PPV. Kane won the MITB briefcase defeating Big Show, Matt Hardy, Christian, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. Kane cashed in the MITB briefcase following Rey Mysterio’s successful title defense against Jack Swagger later that evening.

Another fun fact – If Bill Goldberg wins the Universal Title on Sunday at Fastlane he will be the second oldest person to hold a top-title in WWE history. Goldberg would become champion at 50 which would be second only to Vince McMahon’s 1999 stint when he held the WWF title at age 54.
