As noted before, WWE announced earlier this week that Timothy Thatcher and Killer Kross recently signed with the company.
WWE officials had been interested in signing Thatcher since early 2015, Dave Meltzer reported on a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio. Specifically, it was his match against against Kassius Ohno at WWNLive’s Mercury Rising 2015 event in San Jose, California on March 28, 2015 that left a very positive impression on WWE officials.
Thatcher reportedly was offered a WWE contract following that event but he rejected it due to being content with his career in the indies at the time. Despite Thatcher’s rejection, WWE reportedly still left their offer open in case he ever decided to accept it.
Meltzer also reported that another reason why Thatcher eventually signed with WWE was due to him wanting to wrestle for a major company in Japan, but not being able to get signed.
