WWE reportedly is planning to sidestep new travel restrictions enacted by northeast states earlier this week regarding Florida due to the state’s recent spike in COVID-19 cases, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue that the Governors of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut issued new travel restrictions earlier this week that targeted Florida and several other states that had high COVID-19 cases. The new restrictions require anyone who leaves where the resurgence of COVID-19 is high to quarantine themselves upon return for two weeks before being allowed to resume any public-related activities.
These new restrictions affect several WWE and AEW who live in the northeast states and WWE officials who travel to and from WWE’s headquarters in Connecticut.
Meltzer also reported that AEW officials are currently hopeful that their talent who live in those three states might be able to be exempted from the new quarantine rule due to the company regularly testing their talent for COVID-19 for some time now.
In regards to WWE, Meltzer reported that WWE officials are currently planning to sidestep the new travel restrictions by having talent fly in and out of Philadelphia and drive to NY, NJ or CT. WWE reportedly did the same earlier this year when New York was the target of travel restrictions for the COVID-19 outbreak.
