NJPW may be back on AXS TV soon.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are “significant talks” ongoing between NJPW and AXS TV and the “odds are considered decent that a deal ends up being reached” as of now.
AXS wants NJPW back on the network, Meltzer said, and a deal would likely involve more talent exchanges between NJPW and Impact.
NJPW aired on AXS TV from 2014-2019, until Anthem Sports and Entertainment, which owns Impact, bought AXS. Anthem reportedly wanted some sort of partnership between NJPW and Impact at the time, but no deal was made and NJPW was no longer on the network.
Last week, it was announced that NJPW’s Juice Robinson and Fit Finlay would appear on this past Tuesday’s Impact episode and it now appears that NJPW and Impact have a working relationship. FinJuice defeated Reno Scum on Tuesday and teased a feud with Impact Tag Champions The Good Brothers.
Earlier this month, NJPW also announced a deal with the Roku Channel, which airs a weekly NJPW show every Thursday at 5 PM ET.
