As noted before, WWE is currently planning on holding a new event on January 18, 2023 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that this upcoming event has been postponed due to an issue beyond WWE’s control.
Meltzer reported that the reason for the event’s postponement is due to WWE’s India television partner and co-promoter of the event, Sony Six, had recently made the decision for the event to be delayed until after their merger with Zee TV was completed. This merger reportedly is currently expected to be finalized by the end of April of 2023.
Meltzer also reported that the current feud between Veer Mahan & Sanga and The Creed Brothers in NXT involving Julius Creed being injured was originally meant to act as a cover for Mahan’s real injury. Mahan reportedly has been dealing with a minor hand injury in recent weeks, which led to WWE officials making the decision to postpone their feud in order for him to be healthy enough to work at their originally planned event in India. WWE officials reportedly had plans in place for Mahan to be a big part of their India event as the reason for this decision. Due to WWE’s upcoming India event now being postponed, Meltzer reported that NXT officials will now be able to resume the feud between Mahan & Sanga and The Creed Brothers any time now.
