As noted before, AEW creative writer Jimmy Jacobs reportedly recently departed from the company.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Jacobs was “well liked” within AEW and there is no hard feelings over him leaving the company.
It was reported that besides burnout issues, Jacobs also did not want to travel as much and the current belief is that he will be taking time off in general from wrestling now that he is gone from AEW.
It was reported that outside of AEW CEO Tony Khan, Jacobs was backstage at more AEW shows than anyone else.
In regards to AEW’s current plans for their creative team, it was reported that AEW officials have been aware that they need to make creative changes and this was something that they had been planning to do for some time. Jacobs’ recent departure reportedly gives them a chance to do that now.
It was also reported that when Jacobs arrived in AEW, he was not familiar with their on-screen product but had an open mind to learn about it and took recommendations to catch up. Those spoken to reportedly denied the recent rumors of Jacobs not knowing who Kazuchika Okada was.
In regards to Jacobs’ creative work in AEW, it was reported that Jacobs had worked directly with Chris Jericho to develop The Learning Tree gimmick but this was something that was not originally his idea.
