Sheamus on His WWE Departure Being “‘Some Circumstances Came Up, I Can’t Really Talk About It Obviously” & Him Having No Regrets Over Never Winning WWE Intercontinental Title

As noted before, Sheamus departed from WWE earlier this month following him turning down WWE’s offer for a restructured contract extension deal and will officially leave the company once his contract expires on October 1.

Adam’s Apple held a recent interview with Sheamus. One of the topics discussed included Sheamus’ thoughts about his current plans following his departure from WWE.

“I’m just enjoying my time off. I’m having a good time. I’m bringing the missus over to Paris and going back to Dublin to see the family. I’m enjoying my workouts. I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m just in a really good place. It’s been awesome.”

Sheamus also gave his thoughts about his departure from WWE and how some circumstances came up that he can’t currently talk about.

“Some circumstances came up, I can’t really talk about it obviously. But 19 years is a long time and a good crack. I left Ireland in 07, so I haven’t really had the luxury to go home, see my family and see my friends. The last couple weeks now, I’ve had a chance to kind of restructure that, get back and catch up on birthdays and missed opportunities. I’ve got a nephew and niece back home, Theo and Sophia. Love the kids, and I get to see them more now. They’re awesome. Six and four.”

Sheamus also gave his thoughts about him having no regrets over never winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship to complete the current WWE Grand Slam Champion membership criteria.

“I’ve had an amazing career, fella. No regrets. I mean it.”

Sheamus also gave his thoughts about his most memorable match that changed everything for him and his career in WWE.

“I think there was one really important match for me after I got away from a lot of the top guys. It was the ladder match at the TLC pay-per-view in 2010. It was just two of us trying to break that glass ceiling. Me and Morrison had great chemistry. I was more of a hard-hitting bruiser guy and John, obviously very talented, incredible athlete, Morrison still is. Unbelievable. But if you guys go back and watch that match, it’s awesome. One of my favorite ones. We just beat the absolute shite out of each other. It was great.”
