WWE Tryouts This Summer – Details Inside

WWE issued a special press release, announcing that, in conjunction with the George Tragos / Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame weekend, a WWE tryout will be taking place in Waterloo, Iowa. The tryouts will begin on Friday, July 13 at 1pm, and it is open to wrestlers, referees, managers and ring announcers.

Jerry Brisco, WWE’s long-time talent scout, will be attending and he will be assisted by a special guest to be named later. Last year, both Jim Ross and Terry Funk were at ringside giving words of advice to the various participants.

The format of the tryout will be as follows:
Each wrestler will wrestle a full 8-minute match, including introduction (no music).
A small crowd will be present, and they will treat the match as though it were live on television.
Brisco will then speak to the group and individually to anyone that has caught his eye.
If you are wrestling, make sure you wear your full ring gear.
If you sign up as a pair, you will be able to wrestle each other if you choose. Otherwise, you will be paired up on the day of the show.

Friday night after the tryout, Impact Pro Wrestling will hold their annual Hall of Fame wrestling show at the Five Sullivan Center. Gerald Brisco, Kurt Angle, Road Warrior Animal, JBL/John Bradshaw Layfield, Bill Apter, Baron Von Raschke, Danny Hodge, Dan Severn and Larry Hennig are all expected to be there.

If you had taken part in the WWE tryouts, there is an opportunity to earn a spot on the show that evening.

The cost for the tryouts is $150, with 100 percent of it going to the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum.
