As previously reported, both DOC (Drew Hankinson) and Tara departed from TNA today. Tara’s release was a cost-cutting move as she was the company’s highest-paid female wrestler by a high margin and the decision was made to put that money elsewhere.
Hankinson’s release, on the other hand, had nothing to do with cost issues. Sources say that Hankinson’s contract negotiations went on too long and his contract had expired. There were creative plans to have him turn babyface in place, which had been teased on TV. The blame on Hankinson’s departure has been laid at Bruce Pritchard’s feet by some; losing Hankinson is one of many situations where contract negotiations came down to the wire and some, like RVD, have left the company over it. The two sides could still come to terms, but as of now he is gone.
