AEW Dynamite Week 145 Update

As noted before, the July 20th episode of AEW Dynamite drew 910,000 viewers, a 0.32 key demographic rating, and a #1 key demographic ranking. That week’s show was notable for being the Fyter Fest 2022 Week 2 themed special.

This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter featured detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns that were not available in last week’s issue due to Nielsen-related ratings report delay issues.

Dave Meltzer reported that AEW’s Males 18-34 was down 10.1%, Females 18-34 was down 11.4%, Males 35-49 was up 9.9%, and Females 35-49 was up 4.7% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s quarter peak was at 989,000 viewers for their first quarter and their quarter low was at 865,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

  • 1Q – 989,000 overall viewers and 424,000 key demo viewers
  • 2Q – 904,000 overall viewers and 406,000 key demo viewers
  • 3Q – 869,000 overall viewers and 406,000 key demo viewers
  • 4Q – 873,000 overall viewers and 420,000 key demo viewers
  • 5Q – 912,000 overall viewers and 448,000 key demo viewers
  • 6Q – 919,000 overall viewers and 441,000 key demo viewers
  • 7Q – 865,000 overall viewers and 394,000 key demo viewers
  • 8Q – 943,000 overall viewers and 437,000 key demo viewers

More on WWE NXT Viewership for July 26th

The July 26th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT gain a small increase in overall viewership but suffered a small decline in key demographic rankings.

NXT drew 600,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 21st place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s mixed results this week was due to the large gains from their Teenagers and females key demographic viewership groups, which were up 16.7% and 18% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the declines from their younger key demographic viewership and males key demographic viewership groups, which were down 11.1% and 4.9% respectively compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB game of New York Yankees vs, New York Mets drew 912,000 viewers on TBS, Jaws vs. Krauken drew 917,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Shark Week 2022 Spectacular drew 825,000 viewers on Discovery Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 163,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 117,000 male viewers and 46,000 female viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 15.4% in overall viewership and up 8.3% in key demographic viewership.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for July 27th

The July 27th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings but a slight decline in key demographic rankings. This week’s show was notable for being the Fight for the Fallen 2022 themed special.

AEW drew 976,000 viewers and a 0.33 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.

Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due to large gains from the younger key demographic viewership, which was up 22.7% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large gains from their younger males key demographic viewership group, which was up 46.8% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the large decline from their older key demographic viewership group, which was down 8% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB game of New York Yankees vs. New York Mets drew 2,120,000 viewers on ESPN, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 1,143,000 viewers on Bravo, and Real Housewives of Dubai drew 619,000 viewers on Bravo.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 437,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was up 46.8%, Females 18-34 was up 14.5%, Males 35-49 was down 5.2%, and Females 35-49 was down 14.6% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split for this week was 66.4% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, four out of AEW’s eight quarters averaged one million or more viewers. AEW’s quarter peak was at 1,094,000 viewers for their second quarter and their quarter low point was at 847,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 11.9% in overall viewership and down 26.5% in key demographic viewership.

  • 2Q – 1,094,000 overall viewers and 463,000 key demo viewers
  • 3Q – 1,046,000 overall viewers and 454,000 key demo viewers
  • 4Q – 995,000 overall viewers and 430,000 key demo viewers
  • 5Q – 1,008,000 overall viewers and 464,000 key demo viewers
  • 6Q – 892,000 overall viewers and 423,000 key demo viewers
  • 7Q – 847,000 overall viewers and 408,000 key demo viewers
  • 8Q – 902,000 overall viewers and 432,000 key demo viewers

Meltzer reported that the final minutes of the Bryan Danielson vs. Daniel Garcia match drew 990,000 overall viewers and 469,000 key demographic viewers.


More on AEW Rampage Viewership for July 22nd

The July 15th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a slight decline in overall viewership and a small increase in key demographic ratings and key demographic ratings. That week’s show was notable for being the Fyter Fest 2022 Week 2 themed special.

AEW Rampage drew 428,000 viewers and a 0.17 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 6th place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s mixed results for that week’s show was due to the large gains from their Teenagers and younger key demographic viewership groups, which were up 33.3% each compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the large decline in their Over 50 viewership group, which was down 15% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that night’s cable television viewership was one of the weakest Fridays in some time due to none of the Top 10 shows managed to generate a 0.20 or higher key demographic rating.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the MLB simulcast games of Houston vs. Seattle and San Francisco vs. Los Angeles Dodgers drew 172,000 viewers on MLB Network and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 697,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 215,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 143,000 male viewers and 72,000 female viewers.

Meltzer reported that that week’s Rampage show was the second youngest skewing sports show for the week, only behind one basketball game. That week’s AEW Dynamite reportedly was the third youngest skewing sports show.
