More on WWE NXT Viewership for November 22nd

The November 22nd episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer a large decline in overall viewership and key demographic rankings and a small decline in key demographic ratings.

NXT drew 624,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on USA Network. NXT’s key demographic ranking for that night was 50th place.

Detailed viewership and key demographic breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reason for NXT’s declines that week was due to the very large declines suffered from their younger key demographic viewership and older key demographic viewership groups, which were down 34.5% and 38.9% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the small gains from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which was up 5.6% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers drew 1,476,000 viewers on TNT, the NBA game of Los Angeles Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns drew 1,470,000 viewers on TNT, the College basketball game of Creighton vs. Arkansas drew 1,158,000 viewers on ESPN, Little People, Big World drew 1,204,000 viewers on TLC, Below Deck Adventure drew 389,000 viewers on Bravo, and Curse of Oak Island drew 2,000,000 viewers on History Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 151,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 84,000 male viewers and 67,000 female viewers for a split of 55.6% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 0.02% in overall viewership and down 20.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that NXT’s 18-34 viewership was up 27.9% compared to the same week last year.


More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for November 23rd

The November 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and a small increase in key demographic ratings but also suffered a slight decline in key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 880,000 viewers and a 0.32 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 6th place.

Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases this week was due to the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership, younger male key demographic viewership, and older male key demographic viewership groups, which were up 37.2%, 58.5%, and 20.5% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the large decline suffered from their older female key demographic viewership group, which was down 31.5% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that this was the first time ever that AEW managed to generate a weekly increase in their key demographic viewership for a Thanksgiving Eve show in Dynamite history. AEW reportedly had suffered a 8.7% decrease for their 2021 show, a 28.7% decrease for their 2020 show, and a 33.3% decrease for their 2019 show on Thanksgiving Eve compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Dallas Mavericks vs. Boston Celtics drew 1,676,000 viewers on ESPN, the NHL game of Philadelphia Flyers vs. Washington Capitals drew 373,000 viewers on TNT, the College basketball game of Butler vs. Tennessee drew 547,000 viewers on ESPN2, and Challenge: Ride or Die drew 470,000 viewers on MTV.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 421,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was up 58.5%, Females 18-34 was down 7.7%, Males 35-49 was up 20.5%, and Females 35-49 was down 31.5%. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 324,000 male viewers and 97,000 female viewers for a split of 77% in favor of males.

In an interesting note, Meltzer reported that AEW’s show that week managed to top that Monday’s WWE’s RAW show in Males 18-49 and Males 18-34 key demographic viewership groups. In regards to Males 18-49, AEW reportedly had 325,000 viewers compared to 315,000 viewers for RAW. In regards to Males 18-34, AEW reportedly had 130,000 viewers compared to RAW’s 112,000 viewers.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, one of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 1,019,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 813,000 viewers for their sixth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 2% in overall viewership and but up 3.2% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was up 13.7% compared to the same week last year.

  • 1Q – 1,019,000 overall viewers and 449,000 key demo viewers (William Regal, Jon Moxley, & Bryan Danielson promo segment)
  • 2Q – 893,000 overall viewers and 415,000 key demo viewers (AEW All-Atlantic Championship match of Jake Hager vs. Orange Cassidy (c) and post-match with The Factory, Best Friends, & House of Black
  • 3Q – 866,000 overall viewers and 418,000 key demo viewers (AEW World Championship Eliminator tournament Finals match of Ricky Starks vs. Ethan Page)
  • 4Q – 867,000 overall viewers and 425,000 key demo viewers (Wardlow promo video segment, the Jade Cargill & The Baddies backstage segment, and the start of the AEW World Trios Championship Best of Seven series Match 2 of The Elite vs Death Triangle)
  • 5Q – 864,000 overall viewers and 427,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the The Elite vs. Death Triangle match)
  • 6Q – 813,000 overall viewers and 393,000 key demo viewers (Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter interview segment and the bulk of the Three-way match of Baker & Hayter vs. Skye Blue & Willow Nightingale vs. Anna Jay & Tay Melo)
  • 7Q – 840,000 overall viewers and 411,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Baker & Hayter vs. Blue & Nightingale vs. Jay & Melo match, the FTR & Top Flight backstage segment, and The Acclaimed, Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, & Sonjay Dutt segment)

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for November 18th

The November 18th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a small decline in overall viewership but gain a very large increase in key demographic rankings and a small increase in key demographic ratings.

AEW Rampage drew 445,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 17th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gains from their key demographic viewership, which was up 23.8% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of New York Knicks vs. Golden State Warriors drew 1,472,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Illinois vs. UCLA drew 258,000 viewers on ESPNU, the College football game of South Florida vs. Tulsa drew 510,000 viewers on ESPN2, Gold Rush: White Water drew 1,054,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and On Patrol Live drew 826,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 182,000 viewers.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 20% in overall viewership and down 36.1% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 46.7% compared to the same week last year.
